Mechanical Engineering Machine Design Lab Development: Bike FEA
06/2021 - 08/2021
During the summer of 2021, I was tasked with developing various lab manuals for the ME 35401 Lab. One of the labs I developed was an FEA SolidWorks Model for a multi-step lab project.
Modeling Bike Crankshaft

Using these 2D drawings from a previous lab manual, a 3D model was made from scratch in SolidWorks.

Assembly and Finite Element Analysis

For this model, specific dimensions (ex. crankshaft and pedal shaft diameters) were set to different parameters for students to see how certain geometries affect a design's stress performance. An FEA simulation was used to visualize these results.
SolidWorks model, parameter manipulation, assembly, and FEA were done in around 20 hours total. Complete lab manual was submitted to Purdue University College of Engineering
